Unrivaled connectivity offers incredible flexibility

The RME Fireface UFX+ can handle any audio task that you may encounter, by virtue of its extensive connectivity. Its impressive 94 channels of I/O include 12 analog channels (including four high-quality mic/instrument preamps), 16 channels of ADAT, two channels of AES, and 64 channels of MADI. Thunderbolt technology imbues the Fireface UFX+ with PCIe-like audio performance, offering the lowest latency, system overhead, and CPU load you’re likely to encounter. The Fireface UFX+ also connects via USB 3.0, so it’s compatible with computers that aren’t Thunderbolt equipped. Low impedance Hi-Power headphone outputs serve up a +19dBu maximum output level, injecting it with more than enough output power for any set of headphones, high or low impedance.

Premium digital and analog components yield crystal-clear audio

RME went all out when they designed the Fireface UFX+. Upgraded AD/DA converters, optimized analog I/O circuits, and improved SNR and THD values yield unbelievably transparent audio. When we gave the Fireface UFX+ a test run here at Sweetwater, the consensus was that whatever goes into the Fireface UFX+ is captured flawlessly. And what you hear from your monitors is exactly what was recorded. The Fireface UFX+’s mic pres are also impressive, with a +18dBu maximum input level and 75dB of gain – more than enough to tackle any source. The Fireface UFX+ also makes use of RME’s celebrated SteadyClock system, so jitter is a non-issue.

Comprehensive MADI connectivity offers massive track counts

The RME Fireface UFX+’s comprehensive MADI connectivity creates a lot of digital and analog I/O opportunities. Expand your analog channel count to accommodate your mixing console. Route/mix within the digital domain through numerous sources. You can also connect multiple external MADI devices in series. Beyond that, the MADI I/O is still available via RME’s integrated hardware mixer – even when the Fireface UFX+ is in USB 2.0 mode – which is limited to 30 channels I/O (12 analog, 16 ADAT, and 2 AES). Configure the Fireface UFX+ to clock externally from MADI. Utilize both MADI I/Os simultaneously with 32 channels each on optical and coaxial, by virtue of the Fireface UFX+’s split mode. The number of options available is mind boggling!

DURec enables direct USB recording of 76 simultaneous channels

Conveniently located on the front of the RME Fireface UFX+ is a DURec port. This port enables direct USB recording to an external thumb or USB drive. RME’s second-generation hardware delivers improved performance, so you enjoy greater reliability – even with slow or multi-partitioned flash drives. All 12 of the Fireface UFX+’s analog outputs and all of its 64 MADI channels can be captured simultaneously, providing you with a total of 76 recordable channels. You can also configure the UFX+ to record any 76 inputs you want. Create time-stamped files, courtesy of an internal real-time clock, and enjoy advanced playback functions that were previously unavailable. The DURec feature is perfect for live recording and playback of all 76 channels making virtual sound checks a breeze.

TotalMix FX mixer gives you powerful control over large track counts

The Fireface UFX+ provides you with incredible control over inputs, outputs, mix levels, and more, thanks to RME’s TotalMix FX software mixer. Not only do you have unlimited routing of inputs and outputs, you can also split and distribute signals to multiple outputs at a time. TotalMix FX is loaded with effects, enabling multiple latency-free monitor mixes with EQ, dynamics, reverb, and delay on any outputs. You also have peak and RMS level metering, which is crucial for managing the gain levels of large numbers of tracks. And the TotalMix FX app for iPad adds full remote control over the Fireface UFX+’s hardware mixer and DSP effects. You can even create, store, and load complete mixes directly from your iPad!

Optional ARC USB remote provides convenient desktop control

RME’s ARC USB remote (sold separately) connects to your computer via USB, and provides you with direct control over the Fireface UFX+. The ARC USB fits conveniently on your desktop and has 15 freely assignable and illuminated buttons, one encoder wheel, and a footswitch jack. ARC USB is completely plug and play. As soon as you connect it, TotalMix FX will detect it.
