USB MIDI Breath and Bite Controller 2 Overview
With sample libraries improving and physical modeling reaching remarkable realism, the necessity for good controllers is clear. The new USB MIDI Breath and Bite Controller 2 (BBC2) features four hands-free continuous controllers: Breath, Bite, Nod, and Tilt sensors. These enable musicians to add subtle expressiveness and incredible realism to their performances.
Our entirely separate MIDI streams create two-dimensional data for air pressure, biting force, and head inclination
Our established integrated signal processing methods ensure complete resolution across all sensor input ranges. MIDI messages are only sent when sensor data causes the MIDI output value to change. The delay is low thanks to the same cutting-edge piezoelectric pressure sensor used in our previous breath controller models, and the reaction to breath pressure is rapid and sensitive enough to allow flutter tonguing.
The BBC2 is completely USB-MIDI class compatible and works with the built-in operating system USB-MIDI class drivers on Windows and Mac computers, as well as any other class-compliant host, including the Korg Kronos. The Configuration Utility works on both Windows and Mac computers and allows you to easily and independently change parameters, including input/output range, sensitivity curve, attack/decay filter response, MIDI Channel, MIDI CC, Pitch bend, and Aftertouch.
The integrated headset may be twisted into a comfortable form and worn around the head or neck, depending on personal taste. The mouthpiece features an adjustable bleed valve, similar to the one found on the well-known-but-now-discontinued – Yamaha BC3 breath controller. The mouthpiece now has a food-grade plastic cover that, unlike the silicone cover on the previous model, can bear tooth pressure. In addition, the new cover is easy to remove for cleaning.
